Martin Votava, M.D., Ph.D., Prof. Assoc.

Martin is an expert in pharmacology, regulatory science and pharmacovigilance. He graduated from the 3rd faculty of medicine at Charles University in Prague in General medicine (MD), Pharmacology and Toxicology (PhD) and Medical Pharmacology (Assoc. prof). As a professional Martin worked for several years as a Clinical Trial assessor for the Czech State Institute for Drug Control (SUKL). In 2005 he became the Head of Clinical evaluation department at SUKL and he was nominated to represent the Czech Republic (2007-2010) on the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) at European Medicines Agency (EMA). Martin was responsible for the coordination and assessment of centralized marketing authorization procedures and referrals as a rapporteur or a co-rapporteur for new active substances, biosimilar and generic medicinal products. In 2010 Martin co-founded PharmInvent and held different strategic and managerial roles within the organization. Later he became the Chief Medical Officer of its strategic partner Primevigilance. Martin remains dedicated to education and particularly to the Charles University Medical Faculty where he held the position of the Head of the Pharmacology Department, currently he still teaches pharmacology and acts as the EU-QPPV.
